Everything you need to know about cleft lip reconstruction and how it can help to give balance and shape to your lips.
As well as having a full set of pearly whites, many women also aspire to having full, well-defined lips that they can enhance with lip glosses, lipsticks or lip liners.
For those women who have had surgery to correct a cleft lip, this vision can also be realised thanks to the wonders of cleft lip reconstruction using micro-pigmentation.
A cleft lip reconstruction procedure helps to recreate natural lip colour and a symmetrical lip shape using pigments as well as helping to successfully camouflage scarring as a result of cleft lip surgery.
How will cleft lip reconstruction enhance the appearance of my lips?
Those women who have had cleft lip surgery may still be left feeling that their lips aren’t as prominent and as they would like them to be.
A cleft lip reconstruction procedure can help to create a natural-looking lip outline and cupids bow, allowing our lips to stand out as a feature in their own right.
Using a wide range of shades to create a pigment that perfectly complements your skin tone, micro-pigmentation can also add colour to our lips, removing the need to apply cosmetic lip products on a daily basis.
How does the cleft lip reconstruction procedure work?
The cleft lip reconstruction procedure uses medical tattooing to create a set of full, sensual lips that will help to restore your confidence in your appearance.
Prior to the procedure our qualified and experienced micro pigmentation specialist (therapist) Caron will explain full details of the procedure as part of your free, no-obligation consultation. The consultation will also give you an opportunity to discuss your requirements with Caron, allowing you to work together to create the desired look for your lips; choosing from a variety of shades and shapes.
Before and after pictures of previous procedures will also help to give you an idea of the finished look.
The procedure will be divided into two parts, each lasting between 45 minutes and 1 hour, and be carried out by Caron in our dedicated treatment room.
Caron will apply an anaesthetic cream to numb the area to be treated, and once the cleft lip reconstruction procedure is complete Antiseptic cream will be applied to soothe the treated area. You will then receive a sachet of Vaseline and an aftercare sheet, with full details of how to care for the treated area.
The second part of the procedure will then be booked for 4 to 6 weeks time, and if you have any questions or queries during the aftercare stage, simply call us during office hours and we will be more than happy to help.
